Vintner Dinner at Colgin Cellars

This years event at Colgin was of course catered by Thomas Keller of French Laundry as usual and again an amazing menu! It’s always fun to watch him and the crew in the kitchen.  The entertainment started with the bartenders!  Don’t believe me, well take a look at them!  From Cirque USA, they really had people entertained including Ryan Seacrest.

Lovable Louis…

From the archives…

I shot a few portraits last year for some sisters for their mom’s birthday present.  We did them at Ocean Beach because that is one of the first places she took them after immigrating from Russia.  So for kicks I brought the Holga along.  I can almost feel like what Ocean Beach could have been photographed like in 1882 or something!

Andrea + Mark

What a beautiful day at Wente in Livermore!

Hard at work I am!

My “Office” last Friday…

It sure doesn’t hurt to go to work when this is your ahem, “office” for the day.

My Holga is Back!!!

At a wedding last month, oops it is June so two months ago, I walked around a bit with my Holga.  There were so many textures, points of interest and fun people it made for some great images.   I so love film.  The smell, the tactile factor, the heavy click in my camera (or in this case the LOUD click of the Holga).  These images are straight out of the camera too.  The vignetting and grain and all the things many might say are mistakes are gloriously beautiful.  I hope you agree!  If you are game add it to your photography request!

Samantha’s Portraits

Confidence can truly create fantastic portraits on your wedding day.    I just came across these recently from a wedding last fall that I forgot to post.  Samantha is the sweetest person and obviously lovely.  She was modern classic in a rustic setting and the light was fantastic along with the old and new look.  When it’s time for the portraits:

  1. Relax!  Have a cocktail if it helps!
  2. Know that you are beautiful!  This will help emote everything you feel.
  3. Work with your photographer if you have ideas too.  I’m always open to hear what you “see”.
  4. Put time in your weddings schedule for portraits!  The more time we have the more options you will have.
  5. If there is a weather, light or time crunch then think about seeing each before the ceremony.  This can really provide great images and you can still have the excitement of that first time he sees you!

Buyer Beware!

This was recently posted by another photographer on Facebook and I have to say this is a must watch if you are looking for a wedding photographer.  I’ve heard dozens of horror stories and this is along par with those that post on craigslist and the like.
